چکیده

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, including in India. The incidence HCC has been rising due to lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), alcoholic (ALD), well viral hepatitis infections. Various locoregional therapies (LRTs) are used treat HCC, thermal ablation, transarterial therapies, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), radioembolization (TARE). Traditional response evaluation criteria like WHO RECIST, which rely on size-based measurements, may not accurately assess treatment LRTs. To address this limitation, modified for solid tumors (mRECIST) the LI-RADS algorithm (LR-TRA) have developed. mRECIST assesses patient-level response, while LR-TRA provides lesion-level assessment specifically treated with This article discusses imaging protocols diagnosing appearances lesions after different It explains categorizing LR-TR viable, non-viable, equivocal. also highlights challenges future directions assessment, incorporation ancillary findings, patients receiving combination systemic potential use biomarkers serum AFP, AFP-L3, PIVKA-II. In conclusion, expanded options accurate crucial optimizing patient management. provide valuable tools evaluating updates expected specific incorporate newer approaches iRECIST quantitative assessment. Additionally, complement imaging-based future.

Hepatocellular carcinoma in a sheep

At necropsy of a five-year-old sheep, a pear shaped, lobular yellow-brownish mass measuring about 12 ×15 × 20 cm was found to involve the right hepatic lobe. Microscopic examination revealed two trabecularand solid patterns of neoplastic hepatocytes. In solid pattern, there were numerous tumoral giant cells thatcontain one or more large hyperchromatic bizarre-shaped nuclei scattered among clust...

Preclinical studies of 166Ho-chitosan for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

Introduction: Recently, due to the special characteristics of 166Ho and chitosan, 166Ho-chitosan complex was developed for treatment of tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma. This complex has been lately prepared with high radiochemical purity in our lab. The preclinical studies of the complex however should be performed to evaluate the tracer concentration in target and...

DNA methylation of tumor suppressor genes in hepatocellular carcinoma

The basic unit of chromatin is a nucleosome included an octamer of the four core histones and 147 base pairs of DNA. Posttranslational histones modifications affect chromatin structure resulting in gene expression changes. CpG islands hypermethylation within the gene promoter regions and the deacetylation of histone proteins are the most common epigenetic modifications. The aberrant patterns of...

Modified RECIST (mRECIST) assessment for hepatocellular carcinoma.

The endpoint in cancer research is overall survival. Nonetheless, other potential surrogate endpoints, such as response rate and time to progression, are currently used. Measurement of response rate in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has become a controversial issue. The World Health Organization (WHO) criteria underestimate the actual response rate; thus, they were amended in 2000 by a panel of...
